Gold Kayaking and Canoeing Expedition Qualifying

We are offering qualifying kayaking or canoeing expeditions over 5 days and 4 nights in designated wild country. Day 1 will be a training and familiarisation day during which you will have the opportunity to get to know your fellow participants, share out equipment and food and put any finishing touches to your route plans. You will also meet your assessor and receive his/her briefing.

Participants must be BCU 2 Star level paddlers to qualify for entry onto this expedition. Harbour Challenge can offer the BCU 2 Star course generally on dates to suit you and will offer a discount to DofE participants also booking practice and/or Qualifying expeditions with us.

The cost of this (excluding and courses required) is £375 for the 5 days to include cost of campsites and use of expedition equipment including tents, cooking stoves and fuel for the stoves, rucksacks, maps and compasses, kayaks or canoes, wetsuits, wind proofs and buoyancy aids. Cost of food is extra.

Pre practice training covers the following:

  • 1 days training covering and assessing kayaking skills.
  • Equipment, food and cooking.
  • Camp craft
  • First aid
  • Emergency procedures
  • Chart skills
  • Practical navigation

We need a minimum of four participants to run an expedition so we take bookings for DofE on the basis that if we do not achieve this minimum on any particular expedition we will give you the option to change to an alternative date or we will provide you with a full refund.

For already established groups of four or more other dates may be arranged on request.
