Open Gold Canoeing Training and Practice Expedition
Harbour Challenge Outdoor Education Centre is based on Brownsea Island in the heart of Poole Harbour in Dorset. We offer expedition skills training for independent participants over 5 days. The five days are split into 2 days training covering equipment, food and cooking, camp craft, first aid and emergency procedures, chart skills, route planning, practical navigation, safety issues, the countryside code, mode of transport. The following three days will cover the practice expedition. All of our water based expeditions take place in Poole Harbour incorporating the rivers Piddle and Frome.
The cost of this package is £225 for the five days which includes campsite fees and food for the first days.

National Governing Body Courses in Sailing and Kayaking.
The programme will be run over 5 days and 4 nights. Participants will be aged between 16yrs and 25yrs and generally will not be known to each other or to Harbour Challenge staff/trainers. Accommodation will be by camping and or South Lodge, participants will be responsible for their food preparation, cooking, camp/lodge upkeep and maintenance. The group will live in close quarters and will have ample opportunity to socialize together during the day and in the evenings.
Each day participants will train with their instructor and to develop their skills to a National Governing Body standards in sailing and kayaking (RYA and BCU) and on at least two of the days will plan for and undertake a sailing and kayaking expedition. All sailing and kayaking will take place within the confines of Poole Harbour, which as the second largest natural harbour in the world and offers an extensive sailing and kayaking area a wide range of environments and challenges. Planning will include boat preparation, passage planning and safety considerations.
Each evening participants will undertake a planned activity which will be different each night. These activities could include archery, lowropes, bushcraft and a night hike.
Upon successful completion of the week all participants if at the required standard will be awarded the BCU 1 star Kayaking Award and their RYA level 1 Sailing Award.
