ICC

ICC – RYA International Certificate of Competence (ICC)

The ICC – International Certificate of Competence or your ”boat license”  is an important certificate to obtain before you go to European Mainland. As the skipper of a vessel, you must ensure that you are aware of any requirement for qualifications before venturing into another country’s jurisdiction. In very general terms an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is required for the inland waterways of Europe and for inland and coastal waters of Mediterranean countries. You will not be allowed to operate your vessel in other European countries without one.

There are currently 4 categories the RYA will issue an ICC for

  1. Power up to 10 meters
  2. Power 10 meters and over
  3. Sail
  4. Personal watercraft

Harbour Challenge can help you obtain your certificate through a tailored ICC course and a direct assessment or through an enhanced RYA Level 2 training course that is especially geared to your existing knowledge, training and experience. We also offer own boat tuition.

If you hold a Powerboat Level 2 you may be able to apply directly for an ICC. For more information on this process and to obtain an RYA application click here.
